The great thing about central Auckland venues, outside of the CBD is the range of styles and character spaces that you can hire. Free parking is also a big bonus since as soon as you are outside of the CBD area there’s no charge for street parking, although there may be time limits in some areas to be aware of.
Most of the venues are really easy to get to as well and will probably save your participants time and stress if they don’t have to weave their way through the CBD traffic and construction work that’s forever going on.
Here’s our pick of great central Auckland spaces to consider:
1. The Brick Barn – this is such a popular little space and you’d never know it was there if you hadn’t been told about it. It’s down a quiet street in Grey Lynn and is literally 10 minutes’ drive from the CBD so really easy to get to. If you’re looking for privacy and character and a venue for a planning session or brainstorm then you can’t get better than this. The seating arrangement is flexible if you want to sit around a boardroom table or if you want a casual set up. It’s also regularly used for film and photo shoots so you never know what famous personality might have sat in that armchair before you!
2. The Bank – another wonderful character space in Grey Lynn. It was formerly a bank (hence the name) and has wooden floors, brickwork walls and huge windows. It’s private and flexible for small groups of up to around 40 people. It’s regularly used as a meeting and conference space (our PM Jacinda Ardern has been spotted at a meeting there!) but it can also be used as a venue for a showcase event or private function.
4. For standard, professional meeting spaces with all the high tech AV, there are two awesome venues you should take a look at. The Boardroom, a new space in Newmarket which is exactly what it sounds like – a boardroom space for up to 12 people, run by a professional business coach who knows exactly what you’ll need to make your meeting productive and effective. And just around the corner on Khyber Pass Road you’ll find EMA which has lots of good meeting rooms and spaces for small groups.
